Key Points

    • The 2nd congressional district in eastern Kansas had the lowest uninsured rate (7.9 percent) and the 4th district in south-central Kansas, which includes the city of Wichita, had the highest (9.5 percent).
    • While the uninsured rate for the 3rd congressional district, which includes the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, was similar to that for Kansas overall, it had the highest rate for private coverage (67.1 percent) and the lowest rate for public coverage (24.1 percent).

This fact sheet details health insurance coverage for Kansans in 2017 by congressional district(Figure 1) as well as by age group (Figure 2). Data are from the U.S. Census Bureau 2017 1-year American Community Survey.
