On March 23, 2015, KHI hosted a webinar titled, “How to Follow IRS Lobbying Regulations in HIA and HIA Program Activities.”  This webinar was sponsored by the Health Impact Project, a collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The Pew Charitable Trusts.

The webinar featured Allen Mattison, J.D., of Trister, Ross, Schadler and Gold, PLLC. The goal of the webinar was to assist Health Impact Project grantees in understanding how to comply with restrictions on lobbying. Additionally, the webinar discussed how to effectively conduct health impact assessments and engage with policymakers without lobbying. The presentation showcased a few examples of state and local HIAs and offered an opportunity for grantees to ask questions.

While intended for Health Impact Project grantees, these slides and recording may be a useful resource to other HIA practitioners, as well as other audiences interested in learning more about ways to engage policymakers while complying with IRS restrictions.
