Hospitals and health systems are cornerstones of their communities. They not only treat illnesses and injuries, but also contribute to the local economy through employment and business opportunities.

They also are becoming more engaged in population health. They believe that patient outcomes can improve and costs can be lowered if they address issues in their communities such as transportation, housing and access to healthy food.
