Palliative care is a caregiving approach aimed at optimizing quality of life and mitigating suffering among people with serious, complex and often terminal illnesses. According to the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) and the National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC), Kansans’ access to palliative care currently ranks last in our region and 42 out of 51 states and Washington, D.C.
This discussion will focus on gaining a better understanding of palliative care in Kansas and how individuals and families can access services. Participants will hear from members of the Palliative Care and Quality of Life Interdisciplinary Advisory Council about their work developing the Five-Year Kansas Palliative Care State Plan, which focuses on improving the availability and delivery of quality palliative care in Kansas.
