March 06

Virtual

Artificial Intelligence (AI) gained widespread attention in 2022, with the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI, sparking interest in generative AI (GenAI) across sectors, including public health. A thoughtful, multipronged approach—including well-designed policies—is needed to ensure responsible and effective AI use while mitigating potential drawbacks.

This session will feature a panel of experts, including Justin Snair, Managing Partner & Senior Principal Consultant at SGNL Solutions and CEO of Preppr.ai, Jamie Pina, Ph.D., M.S.P.H., FAMIA, Senior Director at the Center for Data Modernization Solutions, RTI International and Kate Burns, J.D., Executive Director, MetroLab Network. They will discuss the opportunities, considerations and challenges of AI in public health, disaster preparedness and related fields. You will explore ways to articulate a clear rationale for when AI might be an appropriate tool, while ensuring that ethics remain central to decision-making on AI use. The session will feature data privacy, transparency and other sections of the  AI Policy Template and Guidance.
