This week, the U.S. Census Bureau will release two different reports on insurance coverage — and the numbers are not always the same between reports. Which report is correct? Which should you use? This webinar helps explain differences between the reports’ distinct data sets.
The two reports this week:

- Current Population Survey (CPS): Sept. 17th release date
- American Community Survey (ACS): Sept. 19th release date
KHI research staff cover data collection methods, and how you can use the different sources for your reporting needs. For example, if you wanted to know how many 19- to 25-year-olds have gained coverage through their parents’ plans as allowed under the Affordable Care Act, the ACS would be the better report to draw on. With many more survey respondents and smaller margins of error, the ACS is generally a better measure for evaluating health insurance coverage for particular demographic groups.
KHI has made the decision to use ACS data as a primary resource for its Annual Insurance Update, due out in March 2014.
