- In 2019, there were 262,392 uninsured Kansans representing 9.2 percent of the population. The uninsured rate varied from a high of 10.3 percent in the 4th Congressional District to a low of 7.9 percent in the 2nd District.
- There were 43,036 uninsured children in Kansas, a statewide rate of 5.8 percent. The uninsured rate among children was highest in the 1st District at 6.9 percent and lowest in the 2nd District at 4.4 percent. If all districts had the uninsured rate reported for the 2nd District (4.4 percent), there would be 10,700 fewer uninsured children in Kansas.
- About one-quarter (24.7 percent) of the population in the 3rd District was covered by public insurance (including Medicare, Medicaid/CHIP, VA health care and other public) compared to about three in 10 Kansans in the other districts (29.8 percent in the 1st District, 31.9 percent in the 2nd District and 32.7 percent in the 4th District).
- More than six in 10 (61.2 percent) Kansans had private insurance coverage (employment-based, military/TRICARE, direct-purchase and other private) ranging from 57.1 percent in the 4th District to 66.6 percent in the 3rd District.
