Tim Cruz is the safety training coordinator for the Kansas Department of Labor.
Previously, Tim served as a Safety and Health Specialist for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He is also the founder of Real Men Real Leaders, a mentoring/leadership program for fifth and sixth grade boys in Garden City. He served on the City Commission of Garden City from 1995–2003, including two terms as Mayor, and also on the School Board for the Garden City Public Schools from 2011-2019.
In 1995, the Garden City Chamber presented Tim with its Award of Merit in recognition of his distinguished service to both the business community and the community at large. In 2002, Tim was one of 12 Sears employees selected for the company’s National Community Hero Award. In 2003, he was inducted into the Garden City High School Hall of Fame. Tim’s past and current community involvement also includes service on the boards of several organizations: the Kansas Historical Society, the Kansas Alliance for Education, the American Red Cross, the Commerce Bank Hispanic Advisory Board, the Kansas Children’s Cabinet, Finney County United Way, Garden City Chamber of Commerce and St. Catherine Hospital. For more than two decades, Tim has volunteered for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Bell Ringing campaign.
