The Kansas Health Institute, in collaboration with the Kansas Association of Local Health Departments and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, conducted an assessment of the capacities of local health departments to meet standards in five areas: communicable disease; immunization; sexually transmitted disease; tuberculosis; and HIV/AIDS. A Research Brief and a technical report summarize findings from the 2001/2002 assessment.
