Shannon Cotsoradis, executive vice president at Kansas Action for Children, has been tapped to replace Gary Brunk as the advocacy group's chief executive.
Brunk will continue to work on special projects and federal issues for the group he headed for 14 years.
"There's no big shake up," Cotsoradis said. "Part of Gary's great leadership was really thinking about the organization's future. This is part of a planned succession."
Janelle Brazington, who has been with KAC seven years, was named director of operations and finance and will assume some of the responsibilities Cotsoradis handled as VP.
Kansas Action for Children has 10 full-time staff members and an annual budget of about $1.6 million.
It is one of the state's lead advocacy groups for children and promotes policies it deems beneficial to children and families.
Cotsoradis said her main priorities moving forward would be to "assure a seamless transition," and continue the organization's focus on helping children and families.
"Gary leaves us in very good shape," she said.
The KAC board approved the leadership change June 18.
