Jean M. Clifford

Vice Chair, Kansas Health Institute Board of Directors

Jean Clifford served in the United States Air Force in the Office of Staff Judge Advocate for 30 years, retiring in 2010 at the rank of Colonel. Prior to her career in the Air Force, she worked as an elementary school teacher and an attorney.

Jean  is an active member of the Garden City community. She has been a school board member for Garden City Public Schools since 2009, serving two terms as board president. She represented District 5 on the Kansas State Board of Education from 2019 through 2022. She served on the boards of the Garden City Cultural Relations Board, Garden City Family YMCA, Southwest Arts & Humanities Council and United Methodist Youthville. She has been a zoo docent and a CASA volunteer.

Jean received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of South Florida, a law degree from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, and a master’s degree in Special Education from Fort Hays State University. She has been a member of the Florida Bar Association since 1978.
