Policymaking at the federal, state and local level has a measurable effect on health factors and outcomes. The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) is seeking to hire a Policy Analyst to help us map the connections between policy and health. KHI is committed to the mission of improving the health of Kansans through nonpartisan research, education and engagement that support effective policymaking.

Candidates for the Policy Analyst position must be able to identify and translate relevant information from a variety of sources into concise, well-organized reports, graphics and presentations. Analysts at KHI produce written products, facilitate discussions with stakeholders and develop collaborative relationships with partners in the public and private sectors.

Relevant, practical experience, ideally in a state or federal policymaking setting, is valued for this position. Familiarity with how legislative and regulatory processes impact health policy, as well as a range of policy issues, such as public and private health insurance coverage, access to care, behavioral health services, health equity, health care finance and rural health, will help analysts thrive in the organization.

While a graduate degree in public policy, public health, business, public administration, sociology, economics or a related field is desired, comparable experience in the field will be considered. Candidates should have strong analytic and writing skills. Analysts are expected to play important roles in shaping new projects, so the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented research setting is essential.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, retirement and other fringe benefits, paid parental leave, an infant-at-work program, and resources for professional development. KHI is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

Please submit a letter of application with curriculum vitae, names of three references and samples of written work to:
