The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) has an immediate opening for the Director of Strategic Communication and Engagement. The Director of Strategic Communication and Engagement will be responsible for building and advancing the brand of KHI as a credible, unbiased source of health policy information to key stakeholder groups. The Director will create, implement and monitor communication strategies, policies and procedures that ensure that all written, website and social media materials, convening activities and other messages are effective tools of communication building the brand of KHI. The Director will lead and supervise KHI staff who have communications responsibilities (5 FTEs), and provide training, mentoring and guidance across the organization in the development and execution of brand-building communications. As a member of the executive management team reporting directly to the President/CEO, the Director will play a key role in shaping and promoting the work of KHI.

Qualified candidates should have a minimum of ten years of relevant work experience, excellent writing and editing skills, knowledge of marketing and social media strategies, a track record of developing and implementing effective strategic communication plans, a strong work ethic, and a mission-driven focus. A working knowledge of the political and health policy landscapes in Kansas is highly desirable.
