ANALYST

December 14, 2018 Print

Are you an experienced health policy analyst who wants to inform current debates by communicating findings to a broad audience? At the Kansas Health Institute (KHI), you would be part of a team working on a wide range of projects that fulfill KHI’s mission to improve the health of all Kansans through nonpartisan research, education and engagement that support effective policymaking.

Candidates must be able to identify and translate relevant information from a variety of sources into concise, well-organized reports, graphics and presentations. At KHI, analysts produce written products, facilitate discussions with stakeholders and develop collaborative relationships with state agency staff, members of the Legislature, university faculty and staff, public health and medical professionals, and private sector associations.

Analyst candidates should have relevant, practical experience, ideally in a state or federal policymaking setting. Familiarity with a range of health policy issues, such as public and private health insurance coverage, access to care, behavioral health services and health care finance, is critical. A graduate degree in public policy, public health, business, public administration, sociology, economics or a related field is desired, although comparable experience will be considered. Candidates must have strong writing and analytic skills. Analysts are expected to play an important role in conducting existing projects and shaping new projects. The ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented research setting is essential.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, retirement and other fringe benefits, as well as resources for professional development.
