The Kansas Legislature’s Special Committee on Intellectual and Developmental Disability (I/DD) Waiver Modernization is reviewing and recommending options to modernize the I/DD waiver in the KanCare Medicaid managed care program. Key issues to be addressed include the I/DD waiver waitlist, assessments, services and workforce struggles.
As an independent third party, the Kansas Health Institute is facilitating roundtable discussions to inform deliberations at the special committee meetings . The first committee meeting was held at the Kansas Statehouse on September 28, 2022. KHI led a moderated discussion during the second committee meeting on October 13, 2022. A workgroup also met before the final committee meeting, which is set for November 1. Testimony is posted to the special committee web page.
