Miranda Steele, M.P.A., M.H.S.A., Director of Strategic Communication and Engagement, oversees all aspects of communication and engagement, including branding, media and public relations, communication strategy, product development and dissemination, and event planning. She ensures that KHI’s nonpartisan research and educational events, held at the state-of-the-art KHI Learning Center, are first-in-class.
Steele also currently serves as the Chair of the Governor’s Council on Fitness. Prior to joining KHI, Steele was Senior Director of Rural Health Partnerships at Centene Corporation in St. Louis and Senior Director of External Affairs and Business Development at Centene's Kansas Subsidiary, Sunflower Health Plan, in Lenexa. Before that, Steele was Director of Communications for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in Topeka. She also has worked as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Department of Defense, Anniston (Alabama) Army Depot.
Steele holds a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, as well as a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in communications and print journalism from Jacksonville State University.
