Jim McLean is Executive Editor of KHI News Service, a partner in the Heartland Health Monitor reporting collaboration with KCUR, KCPT and Kansas Public Radio.
Before coming to KHI in 2004, Jim covered the Kansas Statehouse for Kansas Public Radio and the Topeka Capital-Journal, where he also served as business editor. Jim has earned multiple awards for journalistic excellence from the Kansas Press Association, regional chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. He received the Burton W. Marvin News Enterprise Award from the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism for a series of stories on the state’s business climate.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Washburn University and is a former board member of the Public Radio News Directors Association.
