Adequate Yearly Funding Rally

About 1,000 people from across the state attended the Adequate Yearly Funding rally held on the east steps of the Kansas Statehouse on Tuesday. Gov. Mark Parkinson and other Democratic leaders addressed the crowd, urging people to spread the word that without new taxes schools will face deeper budget cuts.

The governor was introduced at the rally by Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, a Topeka Democrat. Others who spoke included House Minority Leader Paul Davis of Lawrence and Sen. Tom Holland, D-Baldwin City, who is a candidate for governor.
