Sen. Jim Barnett, R-Emporia, is a member of the Senate Assessment & Taxation Committee which heard testimony Wednesday on a bill that would tax the sugar in soda pop. Soft drink companies sent scores of employees to the Statehouse to show their unhappiness with the proposal.
