KanCare meetings rescheduled

By KHI NEWS SERVICE | March 08, 2013

State health officials have rescheduled five KanCare educational meetings that were cancelled due to recent snowstorms.

Meetings in Hays, Dodge City and Wichita now are scheduled between March 18 and 20. They are intended as forums where Medicaid beneficiaries and service providers may ask questions about KanCare, the new name since Jan. 1 for the state's Medicaid program.

Gov. Sam Brownback reconfigured the program so that virtually all the state's 370,000 Medicaid enrollees were moved into managed care plans run by three insurance companies: Amerigroup, UnitedHealthcare and Sunflower State Health Plan, a subsidiary of Centene.

Officials from the health plans and the state are expected to be on hand to field questions.

The two meetings geared toward KanCare enrollees are each scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and are in Hays and Wichita at the locations listed below.

The three meetings intended for KanCare service providers are each scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

Dodge City - March 19

Wichita - March 20
