KANSAS CITY, Mo. Organizers of a community-wide forum on mental health announced Thursday that the event will take place on Sept. 21 at a yet-to-be determined location.
Organizers expect to convene about 300 participants in the forum, which is part of the Obama administration’s mental health initiative launched in the wake of the school shooting last year in Newtown, Conn.
The mayors of Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kan., are co-chairs of the event.
Emporia and Abilene are scheduled to hold smaller events as part of the national initiative within the coming months.
Kansas City is one of ten lead sites for community conversations about mental health, according to Consensus, the nonprofit coordinating the event.
