— The Kansas Governor's Council on Fitness is seeking nominations for its annual Health Champion Awards, officials announced today.

Nominees for the awards can be individuals or organizations that promote fitness in Kansas.

“Besides recognizing exemplary contributions, the awards program identifies models of effectiveness in increasing physical activity that can be reproduced in other organizations and communities,” said Virginia Elliott, the council's chairperson and vice president of programs for the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 29. More information is available at KansasFitness.org.
