TOPEKA The Kansas Department of Health and Environment, which is leading the state effort to spread adoption of health information technology, has scheduled a meeting of its advisory council from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
The meeting of the e-Health Advisory Council is scheduled at the Kansas Medical Society, 623 SW 10th, Topeka, and is open to the public.
The council is guiding the planning and implementation of statewide health information exchange. It is developing operational and strategic plans for the initiative, which has been spurred by the federal push for every American to have an electronic medical record by 2014.
The primary purposes of the health information exchange would be for coordinating patient care and supporting research to improve public health.
