KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A long-time Kansas City newswoman and editor of The Pitch, a news and entertainment weekly, has been hired as the new communications director for the University of Kansas Medical Center, filling a slot that had been vacant several months.

CJ Janovy will start the new job June 21.

She has a bachelor of arts in English from the University of California - Berkeley, and a master of arts in creative writing from Boston University.

Janovy was editor at The Pitch the past decade and worked on the paper's predecessor publications for 10 years before that as a reporter and editor.
