KU hospital awarded "Most Wired" honor

KANSAS CITY, Kan. The University of Kansas Hospital has been named one of the nation's "Most Wired Hospitals" according to the 2008 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study released in the July issue of Hospitals ' Health Networks magazine.

The award recognizes the hospital"s use of information technology in support of clinical and business processes, customer service, safety and quality, workforce, and public health and safety.



The hospital was among more than 1,200 throughout the U.S. included in the survey and was the only Kansas hospital to receive the award, hospital officials said.

"Most Wired looks at the integration of information technology into patient care in a manner that emphasizes quality and outcomes" said Chris Hansen, chief information officer at KU Hospital.

The Most Wired Survey, which has been conducted annually since 1999 by Hospitals ' Health Networks magazine, uses the results to name the 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems. More information on the award is available at: www.hhnmag.com .
