The epidemic of obesity is one of the greatest risks to Americans' health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently announced that obesity will overtake tobacco use as the leading cause of preventable death in the United States as early as next year. Public health experts have projected that 500,000 Americans will die from diseases associated with obesity in 2005.
