Just one week ago, hundreds of thousands of Kansans who receive health care from the $3 billion state Medicaid program experienced some big changes. They became clients of three, for-profit companies the state has contracted with to run its new KanCare initiative. There are early concerns about whether the person charged with handling consumer complaints will have the independence and resources he needs to effectively do the job.
