Sheena L. Smith, M.P.P., Analyst, joined the Kansas Health Institute in 2012. Her work focuses on community health improvement, and includes providing technical assistance to Kansas communities and conducting Health Impact Assessments (HIA). Sheena’s HIA work has involved qualitative and quantitative data analysis, community engagement and synthesizing information to develop findings and recommendations in order to inform policy decisions. She also monitors legislative activities and performs program evaluation.
Prior to joining KHI, Sheena was an analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office where she audited and reported on various federal agency programs related to the environment, defense and justice departments. Sheena earned a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Washburn University.
