Dave Ranney, Senior Writer/Editor, joined the Kansas Health Institute in 2006. He is a journalist for the KHI News Service — a partner in the Heartland Health Monitor reporting collaboration with KCUR, KCPT and Kansas Public Radio — and has a long-standing interest in social services.
Dave has covered state government for the Harris News Service, The Wichita Eagle and the Lawrence Journal-World. In 2000, he received the Burton W. Marvin Kansas News Enterprise Award, which recognizes outstanding reporting by a Kansas journalist.
Before becoming a reporter, Dave worked eight years as a program director for adults with developmental disabilities, and has served as a volunteer at the Topeka Women’s Correctional Facility. Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Kansas.
