James Tangeman

Mr. Tangeman is co-founder of Dynamic Governance Associates, a consulting firm that works with boards to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. He previously served as president of Garden City Community College, leaving in 2000. Mr. Tangeman spent 44 years in education, including 29 as president of GCCC and Colby Community College.

He thrice served as president of the Western Kansas Community Foundation; other of his board affiliations include those with Leadership Garden City and Hartsook Cos. He has also been an advisory member of the Finney County Community Learning Center. He has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and been a member of Rotary, as well as serving in the U.S. Army and the Korean conflict.

A native Kansan, Mr. Tangeman grew up on a dairy farm near Newton and received a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University, where he played basketball. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Wyoming.
