Mr. Wells is the president of Healthcare Financial Advisors Inc., an organization that provides financial advisory services for rural hospitals. He previously worked for Baird, Kurtz and Dobson, where he headed its health care consulting practice in Kansas City. Prior to that, he was employed by Arthur Andersen' s Kansas City consulting division from 1970 to 1976, working on large-scale information systems in manufacturing and related industries.

He earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Mr. Wells is chairman of the board of the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault and has served as a member of the board of trustees of Drury University.
